Portugal has a rich culinary history, from the humble bacalhau (cod) to sumptuous seafood bisques and nutty porco preto (black pork). At Matiz, we honor Portugal’s traditional gastronomy by recreating classic dishes with exceptional ingredients and a contemporary twist.
A prime example is our signature dish, which never fails to elicit delight… and cameras! On a tabletop grill are perched a slab of confited eggplant and juicy rack of lamb, accompanied by a lavender reduction and fresh herbs. The unexpected presentation, aromas and melt-in-your-mouth meat make for a truly unforgettable meal. Another exceptional main course is the traditional codfish paired with “Alheira” sausage from Mirandela, two national favorites that our chef elevates with modern cooking techniques.
